We were both very tired so it was not unexpected that we would be in bed early (by our normal standards) so by 8.30 the lights were out!
It was a bit of a restless night but expected given the time changes. Overall it wasn’t a bad night (apart from the east-west bed which was fun in the middle of the night) and we dozed off until about 9am before stirring and getting organized for the day. Steve’s knee has been horrible so it wasn’t a good start to the day.
I had done some research and found out that there is a place at the Farmer’s Market called Egg Slut which has amazing write-ups so we headed there. By the time we got there it was around 10am and the line was about 15m long but I can say, hand on heart, it was well worth the wait. Dreamy, creamy deliciousness of scrambled eggs in a brioche bun. Sounds pretty boring but these were amazing and I would line up for them over and over again. Amazing in that you could eat the entire thing (with a bit for the sparrows) and not feel full. Even hours later we weren’t hungry.

Then an Uber ride to La Brea Tar Pits – such a great place but unfortunately full of students on excursions. The smell was a little overwhelming at first and you could see the methane gas bubbling up in the lake and releasing in sometimes very large bubbles. Lots of statues of the past mega fauna and a great display inside too. The research area was visible to the public and it was quite fascinating to watch them on display releasing the bones from the hardened debris.

Then another Uber to the Griffith Observatory. The drive was fascinating as we went on the freeways then wound our way through many different neighborhoods past all types of housing often getting more expensive and larger towards the foothills. There was a massive line of traffic going up the hill and this took some time before we exited the vehicle and could walk around. The wind was quite chilly so I grabbed my beanie and Steve was very thankful he had bought his jacket.

Too many people and we felt quite uncomfortable so we stayed for about an hour before heading back to the hotel. By this stage Steve was in a lot of pain so we are feeling quite unsure of what is to come. Painkillers have helped. Fingers and everything crossed that will do the trick along with regular anti-inflammatories.
