We arranged to ship our bags once again to lighten the load until Steve’s feet get used to his new shoes and we headed off towards Ledigos, about 6km away and where we would get coffee. It was a pretty place and, once again, I tried to go the the parish church, Iglesia de Santiago, as, apparently, it is the only place along the Camino where there are depictions of Santiago in three manifestations: Apostle, Moorslayer and Pilgrim. Unfortunately, once again, it was closed.
Down to the local café (rated highly) for another coffee and a bit of a break before continuing to Terradillos de Templarios where the signage for the Camino was a little bit missing but we found our way before heading on to Moratinos.
There is a little sign nearby that says that hobbits don’t live there – talking about the little wine storage areas dug into the hillside but with doors and what looks like chimneys (air ducts?). This was not the first we had seen of them along the way but it is always fun to see them and to imagine all the bottles of wine being held within.

Steve had begun to feel quite unwell so we stopped at Bodega El Castillo and sat in the sun for a while. I had a beautiful salad but Steve didn’t feel like eating. About 20 minutes later he became quite sick and had an awful belly so I asked the owner if he could ring us a taxi to take us the last 10km into Sahagun – sometimes in life you just have to make a decision. He tried three different companies with no luck (it was siesta time) so his friend kindly drove us to our accommodation where we went straight upstairs for Steve to rest.
The accommodation was perfect and Steve started Gastrostop tablets. We made the decision to change our accommodation for the next two days and take the train straight to Leon in the morning so he could have 4 nights in one spot to give him the best chance of having a rapid recovery.
